Hop On Hop Off
This morning we set off for the traditional red bus tour. Walked to the Suntec Centre, the bus depot spot and did two different laps- the east west city loop and a north south heritage circuit. The new building is happening everywhere but thankfully the old pockets of little India, Chinatown and Arab street are still there. Had lunch at the marina square mall, Steve had a $9.90 two course special of minestrone soup and grilled chicken with black pepper sauce, and I had a small plate of mushroom pasta. We wandered around a bit more and then found a stationery store to buy the connector for the photos. A little rest now then a swim and a poolside drink in the bar. Tonight going to the nightlife district, Clarke Quay, with Sunil a BOC employee who works here now and his wife.
ARRIVED!
Arrived on time after a wonderful flight. The service was excellent at the pointy end of the plane and the food wonderful. The 5 hours passed by so quickly! We were first off the plane, first to get our luggage and within 15 minutes of landing we were in a cab and on our way!
The hotel is very swish and after leaving all our stuff in the room we headed out and started walking. I recognised nothing from 32 years ago - all reclaimed the whole area where we were. Watched the light show over the Marina Bay Sands hotel Marina and then the merlion started spitting at us! We wandered around the whole area and then returned to the Boon Tat St food markets which are literally outside the door of our hotel. So many people eating out in the street (shut off at night to traffic and city centre street in the day) and we sat and enjoyed satay sticks before coming back to the hotel.
Realised the thing we left behind was the attachment for the ipad that lets us put our photos on. Seems that will be a purchase made tomorrow!
